Omeath group in Good Causes final

-

Congratulations to Omeath District Development who have won a place in the National Finals of the National Lottery Good Causes Awards next month.

They emerged as the regional award winner in the community category of the National Lottery good Causes Awards which were held in the Hudson Bay Hotel, Athlone.

The Autism Support Louth & Meath / Drogheda ABACAS School for Children with Autism have also been

the game with points from Cormac Malone, Enda O’Neill, Dylan Quinn and Callum O’Hanlon. Although Cooley dominated possession, they failed to register their superiority on the score board and the Drogheda men gradually got into the game, scoring four points of their own to level matters.

Two further points from Enda O’Neill and Cian Connor put Cooley back in front before O’Raghallaighs levelled it yet again shortly before halftime. Regaining their composure, Cooley finished the half stronger with a point from Enda O’Neill followed by an excellent goal finish from Dylan Quinn made by a superb run and pass from Cian Murphy, giving the Peninsula side a four point lead at the break.

Cooley came out strongly in the second half and got off to a great start with a fantastic point from wide on the right by Tommy McCarragher following some excellent play by the energetic Gerard Hanlon. A disallowed Dylan Quinn goal did not deter the North Louth side, and they extended their lead to eight points through two excellent points from Cian Connor and one from Callum O’Hanlon. O’Raghallaighs responded with a high quality minor score only for Cooley, driven on by a superb midfield of Eddie Kirwan and Cormac Malone, to add two further points from Dylan Quinn and Callum O’Hanlon .

O’Raghallaighs were thrown a lifeline when their hard-working number 8 burst through to score a well taken goal followed shortly afterwards by a sharp point. However, with O’Raghallaighs reduced to 14 selected to go through to the National Finals in the Youth Category.

It’s a well deserved win for Omeath District Development who contribute greatly to the local community, not just in the village but the wider Cooley peninsula.
