-

DUNDALK student David Donnelly is set to star in the hit new television series ‘OAP B&B’.

The show pairs elderly homeowners with young renters for a living experiment, and will feature David (26) who is originally from Belfry, renting a room from pensioner Colette at her Kildare home, for a two week trial.

For the OAP, it’s a chance to combat the everyday loneliness of living in an empty house. For the renter, it’s a chance to live rent free, in return for their time and some chores. At the end of two intensive weeks, they will each decide if they are willing to move in together and make the living arrangement permanent.

The next episode airs next Thursday at 9.30pm and will feature David moving into Colette’s home.

Colette (70) is a widow with three children and two grandchildren living in Kildare.

David hails from Dundalk and lives at home with his parents.

David works in marketing and is also studying a masters in Maynooth.

The upcoming episode details how a very busy work and college schedule sees David spending more than four hours a day commuting, which does not leave much time for a social life.

Colette on the other hand has a very active social life being part of a choir, weekly bingo and socialising with her large group of friends and family.

The show follows their introduction to one another and takes a look at how they are settling in as tenant and landlord.

Viewers will also find out if after cutting down dramatically on the commute can Colette help David get back on the social scene?!

David, a past pupil of Scoil Mhuire na nGael and St. Mary’s College, is becoming a familiar face on our tv screens in recent years, having appeared last year as an escort on the 2018 Rose of Tralee finals.

Prior to that he also took part in the hugely popular reality tv show ‘Come Dine With Me’ on Channel 4.

David studied Hotel Management whilst living in Scotland and became the youngest manager to open a hotel in historic St. Andrew’s in Scotland.

He also won a number of cooking competitions over the last few years, and his culinary skills served him well on the 2016 series of Come Dine With Me.
