Ludlows in call for justice 43 years on
FAMILY OF SEAMUS LUDLOW CALL FOR BARRON REPORT TO BE IMPLEMENTED
THE family of the late Seamus Ludlow, who was murdered outside Dundalk in May 1976, welcomed calls for the Government to implement the recommendations of the Barron Report (November 2005) and the Joint Oirachtas Sub Committee Report (March 2006) and bring to an end the now 43 year years long trauma of the Ludlow family.
Michael Donegan, nephew of the late Seamus Ludlow said that justice for his uncle ‘should not be delayed or denied any longer.’
‘Every government since 2005 has failed to implement the recommendations of two commissions of investigation into the vile murder of Seamus Ludlow. Regrettably the current government has gone further and outright refused to honour the recommendations of that joint oireachtas sub committee.’
Mr. Donegan said: ‘We had hoped that this long struggle for truth and justice would have come to a satisfactory conclusion with the publication of those reports almost fifteen years ago, but we were not to know that the authorities were simply not willing to implement the two commissions of investigation. This failure has heaped further grief on the now fewer surviving siblings of Seamus Ludlow and the wider Ludlow family circle who really should not have been treated like this.’
Louth TD Gerry Adams called again on the Government to establish the two Commissions of Investigation recommended by the Final Report on the Independent Commission of Inquiry into the Murder of Seamus Ludlow.’ ‘ The family of Seamus Ludlow have been campaigning for truth about his murder for over forty years. They have been frustrated in this by the British government and its state agencies who colluded in the murder. They have also been blocked by the failure of Fianna Fáil and Fine Gael led governments that have refused to honour the recommendations of the Barron report and the Joint Oireachtas Committee.’
The Louth TD added: ‘Seamus Ludlow was shot dead by a UVF/Red Hand Comman
