Chelsea in Miss World final night

- BY HUBERT MURPHY

MISS Ireland, local woman Chelsea Farrell, will enjoy the biggest night of her young life this weekend when she takes part in Miss World.

The pagent takes place in the ExCel Arena in London on Saturday night and will complete an incredible journey for the 19 year old, who enjoys family links to both Drogheda and Ardee, where she lives.

Vanessa Ponce of Mexico will crown her successor at the end of the event, the 69th staging of the Miss World competition.

Chelsea has spent the last few weeks in London and during the week enjoyed afternoon tea in the House of Lords, following a boat trip down the Thames.

‘It was absolutely incredible to have the whole world on one little boat on the river,’ she stated.

‘Following this we paid a visit to the House Of Lords, which we had been invited to by the lovely Baroness Floella

Benjamin. We all gathered together for a beautiful spread of Afternoon Tea, and it’s safe to say we made so many memories within the walls of the House of Lords.

‘I shared this gorgeous day with each of my 119 Miss World sisters and I could honestly burst with happiness, I am so proud to be here representing my country, and sharing this journey with everybody around me,’ she stated.

Chelsea has proved a most popular ambassador for Ireland and her campaign to alert young people to the dangers of social media and cyber bullying in particular has attracted much attention.
