Records continue to tumble for Jordan

-

THREE-TIME world powerlifting champion Jordan Holland competed at his first world championships since switching federations for AIPO, but the records continued to tumble for the Dundalk lad.

In a new weight class of 75 kg Jordan squatted 195 benched 100 and dead-lifted 190 for a total of 485, the exact same as the winner from Australia but because he weighted in 200 grams lighter than Jordan at the weigh-in he took the win on the day.

Jordan took a fourth attempt at the squat of 205.5 for a new world record and got it for his 17th record in total and first in the new fed.

Jordan is trained by Barry Smith founder and coach of BPC powerlifting club. Barry was also competing in Limerick and won sliver in the full power and gold in the single dead lift comp with an amazing 221.5 lift at only 59 kg body weight.

BPC had three other athletes competing as

Elaine Corbett won silver in her first full power world, ending the day with 135 kg dead lift and totalled 287.5 kg at only 46.2 kg body weight. Cliodhna Mc Ateer had a 130 dead lift at under 67.5 body weight and Mark Pepper had a dead lift of 215 kg at 82.5 body weight.

Jordan trains in Felda and would like to thank them for all their encouragement and support this year.

His parents, myself Kevin and Lauri would like to thank Felda, Megapump, Defy and the late Vincent Duffy for all their support. They also expressed their thanks to the teachers of the De La Salle secondary school who have helped Jordan unbelievably over his six years at the school, which gave himn the platform to study strength and conditioning in O Fiaich college.

Next up for Jordan is the national championships in April and he hopes to again qualify for the worlds next year.
