Belles round off 2019 with a party

-

ONE party I certainly wasn’t going to miss last weekend was the Castletown Belles Ladies football presentation night and Christmas Party night which was held in the Lilywhite Lounge on Friday night.

The club has 4 teams in operation with u7s, u9s, u11s and a senior squad all in action. They play on the all weather pitch in Muirhevnamor and Bay Park but next year hope to get back to their home in Fatima.

I wasn’t too long in the door when I got a word with coach and official with the club Andrew Gallagher from Heynestown who was there on the night with his wife Nicola and kids Evie and Noah and was so busy making sure the night was a success when I caught up with him, this man is a legend! He told me that he was also being ably assisted by coaches Ryan Gorman and Caoimhe Bailey and if anyone wants to get involved with the club they can be found on Facebook where a message is always appreciated and they are all looking forward to getting back into action in February of 2020.

One young lady who was certainly enjoying her football and the party was Bonny O’Hare from An Cearnóg who was with her brother Finley, mum Catherine and dad Kevin Moore who were having a laugh with Caroline and Joe Gorman from Fatima who were with son Ben and daughter Ellie-May who also plays with the club.

Not too far away I then got a word with Eddie and Serena McArdle from Kilcurry who were with Sonia Hoey from Newry Road who were there to cheer on Kyla McArdle who plays u11s and just loves it.

Heading for another table I then met up with Elaine Toal from Carrick Road who was there for her u9s star Ava Pope who was having a ball with all her team mates.

Elaine was sitting beside Geraldine Murphy from Villa Park who was there to cheer on her granddaughter and u7s star Nancy Neacy and had brought Nancy’s brother James along to support her too.

Not too long later I headed for a table where I met up with Lorraine Carthy from Oakland Park whose daughter Kaydee is a regular with the u11s and Lorraine was having a laugh with Michelle Carthy from Fatima who was with Josh and David who were there for Nicole who is also on the hugely popular u11 panel and I was reliably informed, both girls just love it.

Beside them I then met up with David Duffy from Ardee Road who was accompanying sisters Emilia u7s and Megan u11s and even had brother Daniel along to cheer his sisters on as they received their medals!

Heading for another table I then got taking to Louise Conolly from Ardee who was accompanied by David Fallon and his sister Niamh who just loves playing u7s football. They were chatting to chief coach Caoimhe Bailey from Belfry Avenue who told me she was delighted with the way the night was going for the kids.

Seated close by were Robert Rogan and Shannan Aubert from Rockfield who were there to cheer on Erica Hand who is an u9s star and were delighted to be there for her on the night.

Also having a ball with the u9s is Kelsie Flynn from Doolargy Avenue who was there with mum Jackie who said it was an excellent night for all the kids.

Not too long later I met up with Paddy McCabe and mum Brigid both from Armagh Road who were there for Sophie who is another of the u9s team and they told me it was a really great night. They were having a laugh with Andrew’s cousin Lynne O’Shaughnessy and Cian from Bay Estate and aunty Rosemary Pepper from Ballybarrack who told me they were there to support him and wanted to wish him all the best with the club.

Not too far away I then got talking to Barney and Alison Carolan from Oaklawns whose daughter Katie stars with the u9 and she was with cousins Lucy and Emily Searle from Belfry Avenue who also play with the u9s and were with parents Leah and Andrew Searle who were up for making the best of the night along with Colm Byrne from Avondale Park whose daughters Éabha, Erin and Méabh all play with the club, so do Ellen and Rachel Kenny from Ath Lethan who were being supported by parents Damien and Martin and brother Sean too.

Finally, before I departed, I caught up with Peter and Jacqueline Foster from Muirhevnamor who were there with daughter Nicola Gallagher from Heynestown (Andrew’s wife) with Evie and Noah, Eileen Conway from Racecourse Road with daughter Sarah who plays with u11s and Deborah Wynne from Mountain Court with husband Leigh and son Cian who were there to cheer the loudest for daughter Anna who is another of the u9s stars and they told me they were looking forward to a great night and wanted to congratulate Andrew for all his hard work in making it so.
