A series of workshops on the implications of Brexit are set to be held across Louth in the coming days and weeks as Britain’s departure from the EU on January 31st could have far-reaching effects on Irish business.
The objective of this ‘Prepare Your Business for Customs’ Export & Import Procedures workshop is to provide businesses with knowledge and understanding of the potential impacts, formalities and procedures to be adopted when trading with a Third Country.
The workshop will highlight the customs facilities available to importers and exporters, opportunities to minimise import duty payments and ensure compliance with customs procedures.
They are also designed to embed best practice into businesses from across all industry sectors.
Aimed at Small, Medium Enterprise owner/ managers from all business sectors, workshop content will include:
- Understanding Customs & the potential implications for small businesses
- The administration process as it relates to import and export procedures with ‘ Third Countries’ i.e. countries outside the EU Customs Union
- Goods Classification, Valuation and Origin
- Export & Import procedures – Electronic Declaration Process, ‘Automated Entry Processing’ (AEP), ‘Single Administrative Documents’ (SAD)
- Understanding tariffs and their cost implications
- ‘Economic Operator Registration and Identification’ (EORI) and time limits involved in lodging export declarations - Comprehensive Guarantees - Deferred Payment Accounts - Understanding the AEO (Authorised Economic Operator) process
-How to implement procedures that limit exposure to duties and tariffs
The first of these workshops is set to take place in Drogheda this Thursday 16th January 2020 at The Mill Enterprise Hub, Drogheda, from 9:30am – 4pm – Light lunch will be provided. The workshop is free, but there are limited places, so booking is. essential
The second in the series will be held in Dundalk on Friday 24th January 2020 at the Creative Spark centre in Clontygora, Muirhevnamor.
It will be held from 9.30am to 4pm, with a light lunch also available. Once again, the workshop is free, but booking is essential
The final in the series will be held in Ardee on Wednesday 12th February at Ardee Business Park from 9:30am to 4pm.
