Leaders have to settle for a point
IT’S brewing up into a highly competitive Dundalk Junior League under-19 league with the unpredictability of results again in evidence at the weekend in the fifth round series of matches to make it difficult to place any safe odds on the outcome of games, never mind forecast likely champions.
Leaders, Ardee Celtic, after three straight wins, were held at home on Friday night by Termonfeckin, one of six teams of an entry of eight lying on three points after round four of the campaign.
However, the Deesiders didn’t help their own cause with having two players sentoff as they exchanged a goal apiece with the visitors. Trevor Farrell netted for the hosts, and Conor Brennan scored for Termonfeckin.
Quay Celtic after a convincing 5-1 win over Rock Celtic the previous week tripped up at home against Carrick the same night.
Once again a few factors conspired against Quay who took the lead only to suffer a bad setback when key forward Terence Kelly had to retire with a quite serious injury early in the match.
They conceded twice in five minutes, and compounded a challenging situation by being wasteful with scoring opportunities, including missing a penalty in the second half.
