A Women’s Heart trio set for Carnbeg concert

Three of the countries leading female musicians join forces for what promises to be a very special concert on Saturday night at the Carnbeg.

Sharon Shannon, Mary Coughlan and Frances Black, who played a stunning show last year are returning to the Dundalk venue as part of a nationwide tour.

They have each enjoyed highly successful careers as individual artists and as members of acclaimed bands.

Now, they are combining their great talents for a concert which showcases their strengths as solo performers before coming together at the end of the night.

Sharon, Frances and Mary will each perform a set with their own musicians featuring many of their greatest hits.

Accordion and fiddle player Sharon Shannon holds the record for the best-selling album of traditiona­l Irish music ever released there for her self-titled debut album. She played with The Waterboys and has shared the stage with Nigel Kennedy and has worked with Steve Earle, Jackson Browne, the band Coolfin, Dónal Lunny, Moya Brennan, Kirsty MacColl, Christy Moore, Sinéad O’Connor, Liam O’Maonlai, Mundy and John Prine, amongst others. As a solo musician, Sharon Shannon has toured Australia, Europe, Hong Kong, and Japan.#

Frances Black comes from a well known dynasty of Dublin signers and musicians. She started her career with The Black family, along with her sister Mary, and went on to pursue a successful solo career, releasing a string of best-selling albums. She has also pursed a career in politics, and was elected to the Seanad in 2016.#

Galway singer Mary Coughlan has a string of best selling albums which see her mix blues and folk, and has also appeared in theatre.

The three have a long history of performing together, having been an integral part of the successful Woman’s Heart albums and tours.
