Conditiona­lbail foraccused

A 33-year-old man accused of handling a stolen Audi Q7 has been granted conditiona­l bail.

Vaidas Riskeviciu­s, 43 Colpe Park, Deepforde, Drogheda, was granted bail on his own bond of €250. He must sign-on daily at Drogheda garda station, observe a curfew between 10pm and 7am, reside at his stated address and provide gardaí with a mobile phone number.

Evidence was given that the defendant, who is unemployed, was arrested in Bettystown on 27 January last and brought to Ashbourne gartda station where he was charged the next day. After caution he made no reply.

Gardaí had no objection to bail with conditions, and sought a lengthy remand as a file has to be prepared.

Barrister Stephen Fauklkner said there was no difficulty with that applicatio­n.

Judge McKiernan remanded Riskeviciu­s on bail to 13 March next for DPP directions. Legal aid was granted.

He is charged with handling a stolen Audi 07 estate at Narroways, Bettystown on 27 January, 2020. work on this property.

Then, at 6.03am on 30 June, 2018, Galligan drove a Mini Cooper and collided with a parked car, the property of the same injured party from the previous incident. He fled the scene and was later arrested.

Solicitor Frank McDonnell said the damage to the gate was paid, and his client was not being pursued for compensati­on for the car.

Wth the passage of time, the difficulti­es have disappeare­d, the solicitor continued. Galligan, single and a self-emloyed builder, wished to apologise again.

Inspector Archbold pointed out there have been no reported issues since.

As there are no previous conviction­s and compensati­on was paid, Judge McKiernan said she would strike out the charges.
