5k run and walk in honour of Patsy

GLENMORE AC athlete Shane Toner (35:29) got back to his winning ways as he stormed the finish line in the Carlingfor­d 10k, on Saturday 7th March, to take 1st place.

Hot on his heels was Martin Toner (39:09) coming 5th and our newly elected

Chairperso­n, Kenneth Mc Bride (42:36) also securing a top 10 finish. Rose White (01:02:33) also enjoyed a great run. Peter Noone (01:28:32), Sarah Dooney 01:48:20) Aiden Gallagher (02:03:25) and Grianne Harnet (02:25:34) all took on the Half Marathon route. Super running by all !! Congratula­tions to all our athletes who turned out to support this local event held in aid of St Bridget’s Special School in Dundalk.

Glenmore AC athletes will be kept busy training for the next local event, the Cooley Legends Half Marathon, taking place on the 4th April, an event that stretches over the two mountains ranges that surround the Glenmore valley..

CLAN Na Gael GFC and North East Runners A.C. are again teaming up for the ninth Patsy Kelly 5k Run and Walk in honour of former member Patsy Kelly.

Patsy was a player and later groundsman with the Clans while also a member of the North East Runners and previously Mount Pleasant A.C. in Dundalk.

The event attracts 800 plus competitor­s each year in Dundalk’s biggest 5km event.

A notable feature this year is that the total number of finishers since the event started in 2012 will pass the 6000 mark.

The event starts at Ard Easmuinn and runs towards the Clans HQ where the road becomes a sea of runners before running through O’Hanlon and Pearse Park and returning to finish at the Clans where all competitor­s receive their finishers medals. Start time is 6.30.

The first 800 registered will receive the PK2020 T-shirt, but enter as soon as possible to ensure the correct size is available.

FLOGAS have once again come on board as main event sponsor for the fourth time.

Substantia­l prizes are available in all age categories with the course record of 14.34 for the men and 16.38 for ladies attracting a €100 bonus.

The Patsy Kelly Cup is awarded to the first in Patsy’s age group where the course record for the over 60 being the toughest to break in a time of 17.15mins.

Registrati­on is primarily on line at https://register.primoevent­s.com/ps/event/pk5k2020. However there is registrati­on available in the Clans Bar on Saturday 14th March from 2.30 to 4.30pm.
