THE TOWN I LOVE SO WELL

Q&A WITH: Marissa Lucchesi

-

How are you getting through the day in the present COVID-19 conditions?

Working, eating, drinking wine, eating, zoom quizzes, eating and eating more!

How has your daily work life been affected?

Dundalk FM is an unusually quiet place right now, but I take great solace from the fact that for a few hours every week I have the absolute privilege to enter people’s homes via the airwaves without breaking the lockdown rules.

What is your favourite memory of Dundalk growing up in the town?

Grew up in Dublin and only discovered Dundalk in my 20s - my favourite memories of adult growing up in The Town centre around the heyday of the Maytime Festival when Dundalk was buzzing with creativity and camaraderie for 10 wonderful days and nights. #BringItBack

Where is your favourite public place in the town and why?

The colour, splendour and vibrancy of the courtyard of Dundalk Outcomers during Pride.

The greatest example of an entire community coming together to celebrate diversity and social inclusion.

What is your favourite shop in the town?

Roe River and The Home Bakery - books and buns, the perfect combination.

What is your favourite café/restaurant in the town?

The Spotted Dog. Not only is chef Brendan Mulligan one top geezer, he is also an absolute culinary genius. Never fails to hit the spot (accidental pun there).

What is your favourite pub in the town?

Have to go plural on this one: The Vinegarmans for rugby and Friday Club, Spirit Store for gigs, Tata’s and Castle Bar for a quick one in the local and The Bartender for everything.

When life returns to normal in the coming weeks what are you most looking forward to doing in the town?

Getting all our family and friends together in Casa Lucchesi down The Valley to break bread, pop corks, dance, sing and hug like there is no tomorrow.

What advice have you for our readers?

Remember, just as we were in this together, we’ll also get out of it together. Let’s continue with the great sense of community that has been so much in evidence for the past few months. #ThinkLocal #SupportLocal #Shop Local
