Virtual Dundalk Dog Rescue walk
Covid-19 restrictions have had a serious impact on all charities, as the cancellation of fundraising events placed a huge financial strain.
At Dundalk Dog Rescue, the costs of feeding and caring for animals in the care have continued, despite the reduction in funds coming in during the Covid-19 pandemic.
‘ There has been a serious impact on our fundraising this year and one of our main events that had to be cancelled was the ever popular DDR
Sponsored Walk,’ the charity posted to their Facebook page.
As an alternative, Dundalk Dog Rescue have this year decided to organise a virtual 5K walk and all dog owners and their pet pooches are all welcome to go along and join in.
‘We have chosen the date of Sunday 28th June, however you are more than welcome to complete your walk on another date if that suits you better,’ said a spokeswoman
‘You can walk our traditional route which starts and finishes at the Spirit Store Dundalk or any other route of similar distance.’
‘ To take part all we ask is for a donation of €10, this can be made via the Facebook donation button on our page or via PayPal to newbuild@ dundalkdogrescue.ie’
‘If you feel you are able to raise some extra sponsorship from your family & friends please contact us and we can arrange to get a sponsor card to you.’
The charity are encouraging everyone who is taking part to take a photo on their walk and send it to them to enjoy and share.
‘As a bonus we will be holding a raffle for all participants with some lovely prizes!’
‘As always we are truly grateful to all of you who continue to support us year after year and we are looking forward to happier fundraising events in the future.’
