Walk in memory of Cat
DUNDALK woman Treasa Rushe Carroll was joined by family and friends as she completed her fundraising walk in memory of her infant daughter Catherine.
It was an emotional day for Treasa and her husband Stephen, June 14th, two years to the day since their little daughter was born.
Baby Catherine was born premature, at just 24 weeks, in June 2018. Her brave fight for life last for nine weeks, and during that time her parents told the Argus they were hugely grateful to have been able to stay in the Ronald McDonald House at Crumlin Children’s Hospital, while their daughter was in hospital.
Treasa launched a GoFundMe campaign a few weeks ago to raise money for the Ronald McDonald charity, which like many has suffered a huge shortfall due to the Covid 19 pandemic.
‘My husband, Stephen and I are so grateful for the amazing support we received over the last few weeks,’ said Treasa
‘We completed the walk on Sunday June 14th, on what would have been Catherine’s 2nd Birthday. She was my warrior princess, and I am so honoured that I get to raise money in her memory.’
‘ The walk went wonderfully, and some family and friends joined us social distance style as we walked the 14km in Oriel Park.’
She added that they were overwhelmed by the level of donations to the fundraiser.
‘We have raised over €3700 so far for Ronald McDonald House, and I am completely gobsmacked by the generosity we have seen over and over again by the people of Dundalk and all our friends and family.’
‘ Thank you to everyone who has contacted us, walked with us, and donated. Stephen and I appreciate it more than we can say.’
She also appealed for anyone who wishes to contribute to do so over the coming days.
‘ The fundraising pages will both be active for another week or so, so if anyone is able to contribute even a Euro, we would be incredibly grateful, as Ronald McDonald House needs every penny to support families and sick children in need.’
