Masses to return from Monday

-

Normal celebration of Masses will resume in the parish’s two churches from Monday next with the further relaxation of the COVID-19 restrictions.

It will be open to members of the public to attend Masses, but those who are vulnerable or unwell can still avail of the Webcam service that has streamed live Masses in Saint Fursey’s Church since lockdown began and congregations haven’t been physically part of the ceremony.

Daily Mass and Sunday Mass have been broadcast live from the Church since March.

Masses will be at the normal times as heretofore, with the daily Mass commencing at 9am through the week from Monday through to Saturday in Saint Fursey’s Church and at 10am in Saint Oliver’s Church.

The Sunday vigil Mass in Saint Oliver’s Church will be at the previous normal time of 6.30pm on Saturday.

The times of Sunday Masses will also be the same, 10am and 12 noon in Saint Oliver’s and 9am and 11 am in Saint Fursey’s.

Those with any symptoms that suggest they could have COVID have been advised to stay at home. Likewise this is the public health advice for those who have been in recent contact with anyone who has had the virus.

The Webcam is one of the new ways of communicating that has been become part of life and ‘proved very positive and very well received and very effective in relation to the celebration of the funeral liturgy,’ said Father Padraig Keenan PP.

He said families have been ‘very appreciative of it and brought together people from different parts of the world.’
