Not following the signs

-

IT may only be a small thing, and in the scheme of things may seem trivial to some.

It’s to do with the direction signs painted on footpaths in Dundalk’s town centre to try to ensure social distancing.

The signs are easy to follow and take their direction from the flow of the street traffic.

Yet they are being ignored by a good percentage of pedestrians and indeed some who have been challenged for their failure to observe the signs have taken offence, with a few showing open hostility, while others glare as they meet you on the street, while they are walking against the pedestrian flow.

Of course it may not always be convenient to cross the road if pedestrians are only going a short distance, and some don’t like the ‘ big brother’ implication that the signs imply.

However, it is not a lot to ask, and should be observed where possible out of consideration for others.
