Rampark NS 6th class graduates

-

Sixth class pupils from Rampark National School celebrated their graduation with a socially distanced ceremony last week.

Like so many children their age across the country, the sixth class students didn’t get to have a proper send off at the end of their school years, sharing what would have been memories and hugs with their teachers and classmates, due to the Covid-19 lockdown.

So, the north Louth students were thrilled to meet up , at a social distance, to celebrate their many years together.

With a final visit to their old classroom, they were each presented with their own graduation gift bag and balloon.

The class then staged a ‘drive by’ send off, with parents forming a procession of cars to ‘wave goodbye’ to the school, and also to neighbours living along the route, many of whom had become familiar faces during the school years.

The school had also produced a video for the graduation class of 2020, a montage of their many achievements and experiences.

An August Bank holiday weekend trip has been organised from the Cooley Peninsula and general North Louth area to Donegal.

The travelling group will stay in Letterkenny in the Station House Hotel from Friday August 28 until Monday August 31 and the cost includes three nights B&B and outings. The Station House is a 3-star modern contemporary boutique hotel, offering high-quality accommodation. The hotel is located in the town centre close to all shops, pubs, and restaurants.

Parish Priest of Cooley, Fr. Malachy Conlon, prepares for the return to the celebration of Mass in the Parish Churches.

As we take the first tentative steps back to the celebration of Mass in public, it is so important that we realise that we are not returning to anything like what we knew as normal. Great care must be taken to ensure the safety of all and everyone has a role to play in ensuring that we return to an environment that is as safe as possible for everyone.

We have assessed each church and with the current restrictions the capacity of each church is greatly reduced – Mullaghbuoy 56, Grange 120 and Boher 150. We have a plan in place that will hopefully make it as easy and as safe as possible for people. However, I would encourage older people and people with underlying conditions NOT to return to church at this stage but to continue to join us on the parish webcan.

For those who plan to return, please visit the churches towards the end of the week when full signage will be in place to assist in seating as many as possible within the current restrictions which is two meters – the limit of 50 people for any public gathering remains in place at the moment. So I ask for your patience as we travel this largely unknown road but let our priority be to ensure the safety of one another as best we can. At each Mass we will have the sound system relaying to church car parks for those who cannot enter the church safely.

Volunteers are neded. After each liturgy in the three churches a complete sanitisation is required, sufficient stewards are also needed to ensure that safety is paramount. Anyone willing to assist is asked to attend a brief meeting in each of the churches: Grange: Tuesday at 8.00pm; Boher: Wednesday at 8.00pm; Mullaghbuoy: Thursday 8.00pm.

Please, don’t leave it to someone else, together let us commit to getting back to church safely! With thanks and continuing prayer for God’s protection in these strange times.

The priests’ of the parish of Carlingford/Omeath wish to highlight the following provisions: The dispensation from attending Sunday Mass remains in place and those with underlying health conditions should not present at the church. Hand sanitisers are at the entrance of both churches, parishioners are asked to sanitise their hands before entering the church. In order for the appropriate social distancing (currently 2 metres, in all directions) can be observed, the number of parishioners admitted to the church will be restricted. St. Michael’s, Carlingford: 2 parishioners or a family per seat clearly marked (please sit here). St. Laurence’s, Omeath: three parishioners or a family per seat clearly marked (please sit here). We realise that this will cause some parishioners to be refused admission, and we would ask if they could follow the Mass from outside the church observing physical distancing. Both churches have a one-way system for entry and exit. There is a one-way system, on a row by row basis for receiving Holy Communion. Priests and Ministers of the Eucharist will wear a face-covering while distributing Communion. As in the period before the cancellation of public Masses, Holy Communion may be received by the hand only. The envelope collection is a fixed point at the exit in both churches. Stewarts will be in both churches to assist parishioners.

Every care will be taken to ensure the safety of our parishioners and we would ask for your cooperation in this. Special thanks to our volunteers for cleaning and sanitising both churches weekly and our stewards for assisting parishioners during Mass. Mass times in the parish will be advised during the week, please check our website and Facebook page.

The St. Patricks GFC Lotto took place at the Clubrooms at Lordship on Thursday evening last, June 25. There was a jackpot of €11,800 to be won but the winning numbers were not matched. The numbers were 7, 15, 19 and 28. The jackpot for this week’s draw is €12,000. There were a few changes to the normal format and all Covid-19 regulations and guidelines were followed. The Lotto can be dropped into the club kitchen hatch from 8.30pm where a sanitation station will be available. There are also designated collectors and they will be in touch to arrange collections.

Our weekly lotto is vital to the everyday running of the club. The top prize is now a whopping €12,000, and remember if you are not in you can’t win! Tickets can be bought in local shops and from committee members. It’s also available through direct debit or online (see the link below). Tickets are €2 each or 3 for €5.

To save on contacting people too much why not pay your lotto bi-weekly or monthly. at https://cdn.clubforce. com//Localhome.asp?LLID=382&CLB=1&utmcampaign=play

The Cooley Kickhams Lotto draw resumed on Monday night last, June 22. There was a jackpot of €4,600 on offer but the numbers drawn, 2, 3, 22 and 32 were not matched. There were no ‘match three’ winners and the five lucky dip prizes of €20 went to; Karen Loughran c/o Jamie Farrell; Jennifer Hanlon c/o Doreena; the Rice Family c/o Phelim Rice; John Kane c/o Eilish; Geoffrey Hoey c/o Jamioe Farrell. The jackpot for this week’s draw rises to €4,800.

In the current circumstances and adhering to HSE, Government and GAA guidelines, for the foreseeable future we will not be making tickets available in local shops or pubs and our sellers will not be calling to houses weekly. We would like to encourage as many people as possible to sign up to play our lotto draw online.
