LOOKING DEE-LIGHTFUL

-

Here at Ardee Tidy Towns Committee we’ve been quiet in public but busy behind the scenes. We have had to postpone a lot of ideas due to the ongoing pandemic. One of these is the fairy trail by the riverside walk which will have to wait until next year. The recycling bin planned for there also will be put on hold for the moment.

We will continue to work with the Foroige youth group in Ardee. So many ideas that we had for this year have had to be delayed, however they are all in place for next year and Ardee promises to be as bright and as beautiful as ever.

We haven’t been sleeping though. The flowers around the town’s entrances, north, south, east and west welcoming the visitors to Ardee, are in full bloom. The new hedges are also adding to the overall vision.

Our housing estates are doing amazing work keeping their grass manicured and flowerbeds looking pristine allowing everyone to enjoy their beauty. Many projects are ongoing keeping weeds at bay and improving the areas for all to enjoy.

Our schools, Monastery National School, Scoil Mhuire na Trocaire, Educate Together and Ardee Community School add so much to the colour and diversity of our town as a whole. From poly tunnels, to vegetable planting and bio diversity projects all are encapsulated in their grounds. One of the newer projects in recent times is ‘Gairdín na Sióga’ in Scoil Mhuire na Trócaire. Beautifully set at the front of the school with many decorated ‘Fairy Houses’ for all to enjoy.

Our traders are now getting back into their stride after being closed for several months. Their colourful displays on their shop fronts welcome visitors and shoppers alike.

Continued efforts on our approaching roads, our housing estates, our wild flowers and bio diversity will go a long way to achieve our goals. The new tidy towns committee is dedicated to ensuring that we can strive to maintain our Gold medal status. That means keeping Ardee in the running to become Ireland’s best kept town in the years to come.
