RECENT DEATHS

Condolence­s to the family and wider family circle of Mary Kirk, Mountbagna­l, Riverstown, nee Litchfield, Newtownbal­regan, who was laid to rest in Lordhip Cemetery on Thursday last.

BLESSINGS OF GRAVES

Due to Covid 19, and the large numbers of who normally attend the blessing of graves, there is a change for this coming Sunday July 12, in the interest of Health and Safety of all involved. Fr Gerry will conduct a prayer service in the cemetery at 9.00am and along with Fr Brian will bless the graves and bottles of water, which will then be placed on a table at the graveyard entrance from 9.30am to 7.00pm and can be sprinkled on graves by families during the day. You may wish at entry, to donate to the upkeep of the cemetery so a rota will be in place to facilitate this collection over the course of the day. The service will be videod and placed on the parish facebook and website page

EMMETS GFC

Training has resumed for the adult men and ladies teams. First league game is on August 2, away to Clans at 3.00pm and the following Sunday it’s at home to St Kevins at 7.00pm. The next game is the championsh­ip Round 1 on weekend 20/21 of August against winners of Clans v Plunkets. Oliver Plunkets, Clan na Gael, Roche Emmets, St Kevins, Gaels, make up our group in the league. We are already drawn with Plunkets and Clans in the championsh­ip. The Junior team play on Tuesday, August 4, away to Young Irelands, at 7.30pm and on Tuesday, August 11, at home to St Fechins at 7.30pm.The next league match is on Saturday, October 3, at home to Naomh Martin at 5.00pm. In their Intermedia­te Championsh­ip the ladies are grouped with Gleann Martin, Clan na Gael and St Marys. The club Nursery School will run online this year for children who started school in September 2019. So parents who wish their children to participat­e, please fill in the form that is on club F B page. The walking track and club facilities remains closed. Further details will issue regarding Covid-19 guidelines for the safe resumption of training for juvenile and Walking Track usage. The club has applied to host a Cul Camp for the week commencing Monday, August 17. Sympathy to the McKenna families on the death of Mary Kirk, Mountbagna­l.

CALLANS RESTAURANT

The Restaurant reopens this Wednesday, July 8, and will also continue providing Take Away orders each Wednesday, Thursday – Friday 5.00pm - 9.00pm; Saturday 3.00pm - 8.00pm; Sunday lunch 12.00 - 3.30pm and Sunday evenings 4.00pm - 8.00pm. Pre-order by calling 042 9377246

PARISH NEWS

Week day masses with a congregati­on present, resumed last week Tuesday and Thursday at 9.30am. Weekend masses resumed last Saturday and Sunday, all limited to 50 persons. Entrance is only from front door and only ground floor seating in use. Seats are filled from the front of the church backwards and exiting is from the back forwards one side aisle at a time. Envelopes and donations can be placed in the basket in the porch. Social Distancing and sanitising applying to all. Covid signage on seating and Ushers guide seating arrangemen­ts. Baptisms have resumed with only a total of 6 persons present in the church building. Weekly parish envelopes can be left in the Church Porch on Saturdays from 5.00pm to 6.00pm, and on Tuesdays and Thursdays 10.00am to 11.00am as Fr Gerry or Fr Brian will be in the Church at those times. Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament takes place on Friday from 6.30pm to 7.30pm. Attendance at funeral Masses is limited to 50 persons family and relatives. Remember in your prayers, Mary Kirk, Mountbagna­l, Maisie McMahon, Magheraclo­one, Jimmy Flynn, Rockmount Gardens, formerly Little Mills, Christine Boyd, Ballyclare, Edmund Quinn, Pomeroy, Kathleen Keavy, New Jersey, May Lally, Mount Ave, Mary Agnew, Pearse Pk, who died recently. Best wishes to parishione­rs who are in hospital, or in Nursing Homes or unwell at home presently. A reminder that all dead flowers/wreaths, excess waste from graves should be taken home and not left lying around the cemetery.

FIRST HOLY COMMUNION

This sacrament takes place on Saturday, September 26, at 11.00am with First Penance on Wednesday, September 16, at 7.30pm.

Derryfalon­e native Fr Gene Kirk sends sincere thanks to all for their generous donations towards his educationa­l project for disadvanta­ged children in his mission at Villa El Salvador Lima, Peru.
