Beauty salons had best practice already

-

GOOD hygiene was always to the fore at Luminess Skin and Laser Clinic, Seatown Place, so the new COVID-19 world hasn’t posed too many challenges, explains proprietor Dianne Crosby. ‘We were doing a lot of the things which are recommended already.’ Now, however, best practice sees hand santisers in situ, social distancing in the waiting area and staff wearing visors, masks and gowns.

Diane had continued to work from home during lockdown, providing her clients with online consultations through her website, where they could also purchase skincare productions.

‘We were doing as much as we could and the website is an integral part of our business,’ she says.

Initially beauty salons were scheduled to reopen on July 20, but were then given the go ahead to welcome clients back on June 29.

‘ There was a lot of preparations and a lot of training,’ she explains. ‘It’s important to have as safe an environment as possible for our clients and also for ourselves.’

Appointments are timed to allow treatment rooms to be cleaned down and equipment sterilised between bookings and to ensure that customers can maintain social distancing.

‘We are booked solid for the next couple of weeks as we had a backlog and tried to accommodate anyone with an existing book first so there is a waiting list and it will take us a couple of weeks to catch up.’

Clients receive regular emails/text messages on the recommended guidelines and are asked to do a COVID-19 self-assessment before attending.

‘It’s all part of our new normal,’ comments Dianne.
