‘We’re so delighted the walk was so well supported, and helped to raise over €700. It was a very friendly, fun walk, despite the inclement weather we had on the

Argus.

‘We just had a lovely atmosphere when we all set off on the walk, such an enjoyable event for everyone, despite the concerns we all have going into the winter months.’

She added: ‘ The main reason I actually thought about putting this event together was to encourage people to get out and walk. I know a lot more people began going for walks during the lockdown earlier in the year, and it really is so important for your physical and mental health.’

‘I would encourage everyone to day,’ Joan told the get out in the fresh air for whatever amount of time they can, and go for a walk.

Joan, who leads the Dundalk Walkers and Joggers group, is one of the longest running participants in the VHI Ladies Mini Marathon, having taken part every year since it began in 1988.
