Tasty food pop up event at Glyde Inn
IT was a day to celebrate the finest of local artisan food purveyors when the Glyde Inn in conjunction with The Great Northern larder hosted a pop up market last weekend.
The event showcased some of the area’s best local produce, and despite the challenges of Storm Aiden proved to be a hit with food lovers stopping by.
The market was set up outside The Glyde Inn, Annagassan on Sunday afternoon and include some wonderful produce from a range of local suppliers including: Bellingham Blue Cheese, Ballymakenny Farm, Derrycamma Farm, Drummond House Garlic, Dunany Flour, Oriel Sea Salt, Carlingford Oysters, Kookee, Newgrange Gold and many more.
The pop up market was held in conjunction with Great Northern Larder, the brainchild of Laura McMenamy and Ruairi Browne.
Their business is all about fresh local Irish ingredients, gently cooked into beautiful sauces.
Both Laura and Ruairi have completed food hygiene courses as required by the HSE (Irish Health Service Executive) and we use HACCP practices and full traceability procedures across all aspects of the business.
All their sauces are prepared by them, by hand, in a fully HSE approved commercial kitchen.
In what was a perfect combination, they teamed up with The Glyde Inn to bring some food heaven to local visitors.
The Glyde Inn is a traditional Irish pub and award winning restaurant which was awarded National Pub of The Year and Irish Food Pub of the Year 2018 at the Irish Pub Awards in RDS.
It was also named one of the world’s best places to eat in The National Geographic and will feature in Celebrity chef ’s Neven Maguire’s upcoming RTE show showcasing the best in Irish seafood.
