COOLEY COMMUNITY ALERT AGM POSTPONED

Due to the present Covid restrictions the Cooley Peninsula Community Alerts AGM has been deferred until further notice.

Having taken advice from the regulator this was the advised course of action and the committee will remain unchanged until a meeting can be safely held. We appreciate the support of all the volunteers and committee who make this community alert one of the most successful in the country. We are here to help 24/7. Please store our number 087706823 in your phone.

Cooley Community Alert has issued the following very useful advice. If you have a monitored alarm please make sure your alarm company has your Eircode as this will greatly aid all emergency services getting to you. Also please put your eircode beside your phone and your families as again in any emergency this can greatly reduce the time to get to you. In a crisis it can be easy to forget it.

With the winter months and darker nights approaching burglaries usually increase by about 20%. There is also a tendency for burglaries to occur between 4pm and 9pm, so make sure you LOCK UP and LIGHT UP. Keep your doors locked even when you’re at home and switch on a light in the evenings. Consider timer switches to bring on a light if you’re not going to be home before dark.

Before the dark evenings really take effect, check that all your outside lights work – replace bulbs if necessary.

The Cooley Kickhams Lotto draw took place on Monday night last, October 26. There was a jackpot of €8,200 on offer but the numbers drawn, 1, 21, 27 and 30 were not matched. There were no ‘match three’ winners and the five lucky draw winners who each receive €20 were; Shane c/o Nicholas Rafferty; Lily Shields c/o Sean; Barry Connolly c/o online; May Murphy c/o Barry’s Shop; Anthony Murphy c/o Barry’s Shop.

The jackpot for this week’s draw rises to €8,400.

The Club Lotto is not only a vital source of income for the Club but it will be our only source of income for some time. While many of our running costs have reduced, we still have ongoing expenses to pay such as our mortgage, insurance etc.

The lotto envelopes are now available in local establishments, Barry’s Shop and Murphy’s Garage at Bush. We would like to encourage as many people as possible to sign up to play our lotto draw online. This will help us to considerably reduce the handling of paper tickets and cash by our lotto sellers and buyers.

Thank you very much for all your support!
