Yvonne will live forever in family’s heart

- Yvonne Dolan (nee Brennan) 1986-2020

The death has taken place of Yvonne Dolan, Billywood, Moynalty, Co. Meath, and formerly of St. James’, Cortial Road, Kilkerley, Dundalk, on 27 April, 2020.

Aged 34, Yvonne was the beloved daughter of Mary and Raymond Brennan, St. James’, Cortial Road, Kilkerley; younger sister to Róisín (Carolan) and older sister to Robert.

Born on 8 February, 1986, she grew up in Ballybarrack, Knockbridge, before moving to Kilkerley when she was seven-years-old.

Yvonne attended St. Mary’s National School, Knockbridge, where she made many lifelong friends and enjoyed being involved in all things including captaining the Louth Schools Camogie team.

She attended St. Louis Secondary School, where she enjoyed the variety of subjects, making more friends and enjoying the craic on the bus on the way to school.

From the age of three, Yvonne always said that she wanted to become a nurse. There was, however, one flaw in her plan - she didn’t like blood.

So, after finding out about the Psychiatric Nursing course in DkIT she was set. She got into her little mustard Nissan Micra and headed to her different placements to fulfil her degree, whilst also working part-time in Tesco in the Longwalk Shopping Centre.

Once qualified she became a nurse in St Brigid’s Hospital in Ardee and eventually moved to

the Home-Based Treatment Team. In 2017, she completed her Post Graduate Diploma in Nursing (Community Mental Health) in St. Angela’s College, Sligo. In her chosen profession Yvonne made so many friends and helped so many people.

Yvonne was a very keen baker. You would never visit her house without tasting something she had baked. Scones were her speciality.

She was an avid reader, loved taking her furry friend Teddy for walks, meeting friends and most of all coming home to St. James’ to be with her mum, dad and family, and meeting the girls for wonderful nights out in Dundalk. It was always a memorable night with Yvonne!

She loved spa days, shopping with her mum and sister, and of course, was very partial to afternoon tea - often being quizzed by her friends for hotel and afternoon tea recommendations.

Yvonne loved to travel and had ticked plenty of exotic destinations off her bucket list, from Mauritius on her honeymoon, to Bali, to Australia to meet Denise, her lifelong friend from Tesco, to Thailand but Benidorm was always top of the list! New York was also somewhere she loved to shop, especially with Eoin.

Caring, beautiful, a wonderful nurse, thoughtful, loving, smart, witty, professional, generous - all words used to describe Yvonne on RIP.ie from her co-workers, friends, family and those who knew her.

Yvonne made friends everywhere she went. She was very sociable and had a keen interest in people. She was a great listener and always great company. She loved nothing more than a laugh and her laugh was infectious!

In 2015, Yvonne met Eoin Dolan and the rest was history. They enjoyed the good life together and it wasn’t long before Yvonne made the big step to leave the town and move to Meath.

Yvonne and Eoin built a lovely home together, got Teddy, her Old English Sheepdog and were married on 27 September, 2019, just seven months before Yvonne unexpectedly passed away.

The funeral took place on Friday 1 May in the Church of the Assumption, Moynalty at 12noon. Due to COVID-19 restrictions numbers were limited in the church but Yvonne’s family were very appreciative of the number of people who attended the Mass from outside the church and lined the roads to pay their respects on Yvonne’s final journey. Hundreds of people also logged on to view the ceremony online.

Fr. Joe McEvoy said the funeral Mass. Readings were read by Robert Brennan and Bláthnaid Rogers. Susan Dolan and Robert Carolan read the prayers of the faithful. Gifts were brought up by her mother Mary, mother-in-law Patricia Dolan and Eoin’s aunty Connie. Symbols of Yvonne’s life that were offered included a photo of Yvonne on her graduation day, Yvonne’s cherished recipe book and Teddy’s dog food.

Music was performed by Deirdre Gilsenan and a graveside eulogy was read by Róisín Carolan, Yvonne’s sister.

Yvonne was accompanied out of the church to ‘Simply the Best’, as she was simply the best. Burial took place afterwards at Moynalty Cemetery.

Yvonne is survived and sadly missed by her husband Eoin Dolan (Moynalty), heartbroken parents Mary and Raymond Brennan, sister Róisín, brother Robert, nephew RJ, beloved aunty Rosena McGuirk, mother-in-law, brothers-inlaw, sisters-in-law, aunts, uncles, cousins, work colleagues and wide circle of wonderful friends.

Yvonne will live forever in their hearts.
