GREAT RESPONSE TO CROSSCAUSE APPEAL

-

Ciaran Phillips from Cornamucklagh, Omeath has busy loading up a truck full of donations from kind-hearted Irish people which is destined to bring joy to young and old in Romania this Christmas.

The campaign is being organised by Conor Hughes’ Crosscause charity in Blackrock and the donations of non-perishable foodstuffs, clothes nappies, and Christmas shoeboxes of gifts, will be distributed to people in the Romanian village of Nicorest, which the charity has been helping for over twenty years.

Ciaran says he has been blown away by the response to this year’s appeal. ‘It is just incredible. I want to say a massive thanks to everyone who donated.’

The response has been so great that it has been decided to send out a second truck, donations for which should be left at the AOH Hall in Blackrock.

While Ciaran isn’t travelling out himself this year, Monaghan firm BM Transport is set to begin the six day journey later this week.

‘We are packing that truck now and would ask anyone who is making donations to do so as soon as possible,’ he says, adding that they would really appreciate donations of non-perishable foods such as tinned stuffs, pasta and rice, and nappies, including large size incontinence nappies.

The second truck, which will be driven by Omeath resident Barry Conlon, will leave a few days later.

Thanks to the generosity of people from all over Ireland, those living in Casa Brigid Orphanage in Nicorest, founded by Crosscause, will know that they haven’t been forgotten about this Christmas.
