Betty’s home was always full of children
Betty Rogers, who passed away on 19 May, 2020, lived all her life in Dowdallshill, Dundalk, and was a lady whose house was always full of children.
Aged 70, her death occurred peacefully in Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda, following a short illness.
Betty resided at 75 Dowdallshill and was a daughter of the late Attie and Annie Rogers. She had four brothers and two sisters.
After attending Castletown Girls School, she went on to work in Halliday’s shoe factory and then Ecco before looking after her mother.
A hard-working lady throughout her life, Betty was subsequently employed in Stribel for 18 months until the firm closed.
However, she continued to be busy looking after her own family and her daughter Annemarie’s children.
Indeed, Betty adored her adored grandchildren and was much loved by them in return. They are heartbroken that she has passed away.
The house was always full of kids as Betty was like a second mother to all her nieces and nephews, especially Lorraine and Rachael who spent most of their childhood years with her.
Very much a homebird, who loved her garden, Betty, who would have turned 71 last June, was a witty person who was great craic to be around. She will be missed terribly by her family and friends.
Betty was predeceased by her parents; brothers, Brian and Larry; and niece, Sharon Flynn.
She is survived by her daughter, Annemarie; grandchildren, Megan, Shane and Emily; son-inlaw, Paul; sisters, Nancy (England) and Patricia; brothers, Arthur (Canada) and Pat; nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Parish priest Fr Mark O’Hagan celebrated a private funeral Mass in the church in St Patrick’s Cemetery, Dowdallshill.
Readings were given by Betty’s son-in-law, Paul and grand-daughter, Megan; and prayers of the faithful were led by grandson, Shane and nieces, Rachael, Amy and Shannon.
Burial took place afterwards in the adjoining cemetery.
