New partnership for Tidy Towns and Connect Credit Union

-

Blackrock Tidy Towns and Connect Credit Union are delighted to announce that they have entered a new partnership agreement.

There has been a long history of support for community organisations in Blackrock and Connect Credit Union are proud to be part of this new partnership. Connect Credit Union is a community-based organisation, which are well positioned to deal with all the financial needs for all their members across their four branch network of Blackrock, Kilsaran, Annagassan and Clogherhead.

It is a new, vibrant and positive entity in our community. Serving the community is at the heart of both organisations, so it is a good fit.

The deal provides financial support for Tidy Towns Projects as the new three-year plan is implemented. Connect Credit Union is acknowledged in the new livery on the Tidy Towns van and the new hivis vests sporting the logos of both organisations. It is hoped that this association will be maintained over the coming years. Chairman of the Tidy Towns, John Horan says ‘In the current climate, when life is difficult for many businesses and organisations, we are very pleased with this cooperation. It will see us being able to deliver on projects and commitments into the future’.

CEO of Connect Credit Union, Norman McDonnell says ‘ This collaboration is a perfect fit for both parties. In these strange times, nothing epitomises the value of connecting communities better than organisations such as Blackrock Tidy Towns and Connect Credit Union’.

Connect Credit Union will also be the main sponsor for the upcoming Louth Looking Good awards.

CHRISTMAS TREE

Sunday, November 29 was provisionally fixed to stage the annual Christmas celebration in the village, but it is virtually certain the event will not go ahead.

The Committee that oversees the event are instead likely to just erect the community Christmas tree and switch on the festive lights in the village.

Unfortunately with COVID restrictions it will not be open to the public to attend, and the Committee have mooted recording it and showing the ceremony virtually on line.

The tree’s presence at the sun dial in the centre of the village will act as a symbol of this very special time over the Christmas period and capture some of the missing spirit this year.

The Committee are in the process of finalising their plans.

A sum of €400 as a result is added to the jackpot which was €18,200.
