Lighting up the dark for Dundalk Simon
CAROLAN FAMILY LIGHTING UP THEIR HOME FOR DUNDALK SIMON
A north Louth family have decided to ‘ light up the darkness’ this year by turning the outside of their home into a Christmas wonderland, all in aid of Dundalk Simon Community,
Roisin Carolan and her family are set to illuminate their Kilkerley home and garden with an incredible display of lights and decorations in order to ‘ brighten up these dark times’ and in turn raise vital funds for the Dundalk Simon.
‘2020 has been a very tough year on everyone, and we thought that this year we would go the extra mile by lighting up the darkness in aid of the Dundalk Simon Community,’ said Roisin, who told the Argus that her husband Robert has been busy getting their home ready for the weeks ahead much to the delight of their three year old son, R. J!
‘Our house will have amazing exterior Christmas lights and the lights will be on from 5pm each evening from Friday 4th of December until the new year.’
‘We hope that people will come and see the display, that it will bring a bit of cheer, and that they will donate to the Simon Commuity.’
Roisin, who works in tourism, says it has been a difficult year for many families.
‘ This time of year also reminds us of the difficulties facing those who are homeless, and how lucky we are to have a warm home and food on the table.’
She added that the family were conscious of the challenges facing Dundalk Simon, with so many fundraising events cancelled as result of Covid-19 restrictions this year.
‘We hope people will come along and then go online and donate whatever they can, in a year where the normal Christmas activities won’t apply. We are just five miles outside Dundalk, in Cortial, Kilkerley, A91 T671. Make sure and bring the
