Ó Fiaich College hosted their annual Junior Cycle awards ceremony on Friday 20th November. Mr. McGovern, Principal opened the ceremony by welcoming all students and explained that it was a special day in Ó Fiaich College and in particular for last year’s third year students who were receiving their Junior Cycle awards.
Ms. Flood, Deputy Principal acknowledged the absence of the recently retired year head, Ms. McCartney and went on to say how proud she was to see her year group being awarded with great distinction.
During the first stage of the ceremony each student received their Junior Cycle profile of achievement from their year head, Mr. Rafferty. The second stage of the ceremony consisted of the individual subject awards where students, who showed academic excellence in each subject, received their award which were presented to them by their subject teachers. Students also received a special recognition for achievements in classroom based assessments (CBA’s). During the final stage of the ceremony the Torpey award for excellence in Maths was presented to Naoise Gray Duff. The Cúchulainn award for endeavour was presented to Aimee Hutchinson and the David Dillon award for student of the year was presented to two girls who showed great attitude and work ethic during their Junior Cycle programme. They were Ohemaah Wiredu and Linda Rathena. Well done to all students on their fantastic efforts.
