NEW WALKING TRACK AT FR McEVOY PARK

-

Cooley Kickhams have revealed that their grant application to Louth Leader Partnership was successful and construction began last week on their new walking track. The club has secured 75% funding from Louth Leader Partnership, with the 25% balance to be provided from their own resources. Their plans also include the installation of LED lighting around the walking track for which additional funds will be required.

Once completed this will be a 1km long, fully lit walking track with ample parking facilities in a safe off-road environment. It will be a huge asset to a rural community such as Cooley, especially in these difficult times, as it will provide a welcome outlet for the physical and mental health of people in the community. The walking track will be available to the whole community, the only requirement is that users must join as either a full or a social member (half price) for insurance purposes.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions Cooley Kickhams have been unable to run any of their usual fundraisers in 2020. They had hoped to run a Development Draw in the run up to Christmas, however with the Covid-19 restrictions moving to Level 5 it was decided that this was not practical. They are therefore asking for the support of the community via donations on their Go Fund Me page to help them achieve their goal.

You can find the link to the Go Fund Me page on the Cooley Kickhams Facebook page, or search Cooley Kickhams GFC on the Go Fund Me website. Anyone wishing to make a private donation should contact Kevin Smyth, Niall Brady, Andy Quinn or any member of the committee.

The good news from the weekend is that our fundraiser has reached €10,000! The club is delighted and thankful for the support of the community to date.
