Fairytale of Dundalk for Hospice

CD AND CALENDAR NOW ON SALE

- By MARGARET RODDY

THE restrictions around the COVID-19 pandemic forced the team behind the hugely successful Fairytale of Dundalk concerts to think outside the box so that they could continue with their fund-raising efforts in aid of the North Louth Hospice.

With no live music events taking place they decided to record a CD featuring a host of local bands, many of whom have taken part in the hugely successful Christmas concerts down the years, and have also produced a calendar celebrating the arts.

The CD features festive tracks from top Irish artists such as Nathan Carter, The Fureys, Bagatelle, Tara Erraught, The 4 Of Us, Zoë Conway & John McIntyre and Jim Corr. There are also contributions from D Strings, Ceilí Phillips, The

Long Riders, Seán McGeeney, Scale Force, The Decades, Tara Tine, Cúchulainn Celtic Strings, Oriel Youth Ensemble, Dundalk Christmas Collective, Paul Bailey, The Ramblin’ String Band, Fairytale Choir, Brian Harrison and Coinneach Farrell. The tracks were recorded by Jason Varley at The Shop Recording Studio, Carlingford, and by Andrew Grafton at Sound Wave Studio, Blackrock. The calendar is a tribute to the arts in Dundalk with images by local photographers Ryan Duffy, Fra Lucchesi, Jeanette Morgan, David Barry and Orlaith Cullinane, Olof Berg, Mark Duffy, Andrew Brown, Darren Raffety, Brian Donnelly, Paula Kavanagh, Rashida Keenan and Aidan Stewart.

The CD and calendar are on sale from www.fairytaleofundalk.com and shops in Dundalk and surrounding areas.
