Christmas lights raise over €3000

-

There was an incredible response to one Louth family’s charity fundraiser, with over €3000 raised so far.

Roisin Carolan and her family, from Kilkerley, turned the outside of their home into a winter wonderland with Christmas lights and decorations creating a real seasonal treat.

The family decided to go all out this year to raise funds for Dundalk Simon Community.

‘2020 has been a very tough year on everyone, and we thought that this year we would go the extra mile by lighting up the darkness in aid of the Dundalk Simon Community,’ said Roisin.

‘Our house will have amazing exterior Christmas lights, and the lights will be on from 5pm each evening in December until the new year.’

Such has been the success of their festive initiative that they have so far raised almost €3,100 with donations still coming in through their JustGiving page.

Dundalk Simon Community is one of the many charities which has really suffered during 2020, due to many regular fundraising initiatives being cancelled while Covid-19 restrictions are in place.

As the largest organisation serving those at-risk and homeless in the north east, Dundalk Simon Community provide a wide range of services and support to people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness.

The display will be available to visit for the new few weeks, until the new year, so pop out and enjoy the festive spirit. For directions and to donate check out the page www.justgiving. com/fundraising/Lightingupthedarkness
