Ladies board hold annual convention
THE Louth LGFA held its annual convention via Zoom last week.
Reports for the year were delivered by the outgoing Chairperson, Secretary, Treasurer, Fixtures Committee, Development Officer, Children’s Officer and CODA Officer.
The meeting was addressed by guest speakers; Peter Fitzpatrick, Chairperson of Louth GAA and Finbarr O’Driscoll, Vice-President of Leinster LGFA.
All executive officers were re-elected unopposed with the exception of PRO Dermot Woods who has stepped aside.
The newly elected PRO is Martina Nolan of St Fechin’s.
Sub-committees were also ratified in the areas of Competitions Review, Fixtures, Development, Referee Recruitment, Public Relations, Children’s
Office, CODA and Finance.
Further positions on these committee will hopefully be filled following County Board meetings in January 2021. THE 2021 Executive Officers are: Chairperson – Liam O’Neill Vice Chair – Edel Woods Secretary – Angela O’Neill Treasurer – Johann Fedigan Assistant Treasurer – Gabrielle Clarke

overwhelming support for playing the inter-county season before club. Although still to be ratified it would mean the Allianz Leagues starting at the end of February and the provincial championships beginning in mid-April, with a July All-Ireland final.
This would pave the way for club championship action to commence at the end of July. With this schedule in mind Mickey Harte wasted little time in beginning his preparations, with several trial games taking place over the last week or so to put together his 2021 panel.
Upwards of 70 players are reported to have taken part, with the likes of Andy McDonnell, Jim McEneaney, Derek Maguire and the two Byrne brothers Declan and Ciaran also involved.
Over three weeks on and optimism regarding the new managerial appointment is still rampant around the county, but hopes that the ‘Harte’ factor might benefit the minors in the Leinster quarter-final clash with Kildare failed to materialise as Aaron Hoey’s side were comprehensively beaten in Newbridge.
Louth started well and led by two points at the first water break, but the home side simply had too much firepower and ran out comfortable 2-16 to 1-7 winners.
