The annual traditiona­l music weekend hosted by Zoe Conway and John McIntyre moves online this year with a host of famous tutors.

The good news for traditiona­l musicians is that the Feile na Tana traditiona­l music weekend hosted by the husband and wife team fiddler Zoe Conway and guitarist John McIntyre is going ahead this Spring. Like so many other events this year, it will be virtual weekend but this is actually great news for musicians as they can take part in the workshops now matter where they are,

The workshops and concerts take place over the weekend of February 6 and 7, Zoe and John have once again put together a stellar line-up of tutors who also star in the annual concert.

If you ever fancied a workshop with legendary musicians and signers such as Dónal Lunny, Matt Molloy or Mairead Ní

Mhaonaigh , now’s your chance!

There are fiddle workshops with Kevin Burke and Zoe, tin whistle with Mary Bergin and Brian Finnegan, while Tiaran O Duinnchinn conducts the workshop on uilleann piping. Harpist Laoise Kelly, flute player Matt Molloy and banjo player Gerry O’Connor are also lined up. There are also workshops on accordian playing with Dermot Byrne, concertina with Edel Fox, bodhran with Robbie Harris. Guitarist Steve Cooney is also giving a workshop as is the singer Mairead Ni Mhaonaigh. Bouzouki players will be able to learn from Donal Lunny while sean nos dancer Edwina Guckian will also be in action.

Each of tjese world-renowned tutors has prepared

a video workshop specially for Féile na Tána 2021 with a mix of chat about technique, ornamentat­ion, and some tunes to keep you busy!

Workshops are available at a reduced on-line price of €20/£17.

The tutors will also take part in the Tutor’s Concert, a specially curated and edited pre-recorded video which will be shared live at 7pm on Saturday February 6 on the Féile na

Tána Facebook and YouTube channel and will be for all to view.

Another highlight of Féile na Tána is the very special Festival Concert on Sunday February 7 at 4pm which again will be shared live online on the Féile na Tána Facebook and YouTube channel.

This concert will feature pre-recorded and edited footage of outstandin­g young musicians from Co Louth and around

Ireland.

Those taking part in the workshops will be sent private links w on the week beginning February and the workshops will be launched at 2pm on Saturday February 6th

The workshops are between 30 and 45 minutes long and have been pre-recorded and edited and they will be will be available to access for one month on YouTube, and can start and stop at the touch of a button. Students can also use the slower speed button in YouTube to assist learning if required.
