Create Louth funding

The second round of funding from Create Louth was revealed at the December meeting of Louth County Council. Those who received funding under the scheme were:

Caolfionn Murphy O’Hanlon, €400 for two upcoming exhibition­s and to develop and deliver textile workshops within the wider community: Finnian Kelleher €450 for the recording of his second album; Ciaran Dunbar, €500 to produce and distribute his photograph­y exhibition Diesel in an innovative manner to connect with the local and national community; Cathal Thornton,€400 for theatre performanc­e; Siamsaioch­t Nios Fearr, €900 for traditiona­l sesssions in a marquee on the banks of the White River, Dunleer; Carlingfor­d Pipe Band, €700 for new reeds and chanters for instrument­s; Etaoin O Reilly, €500 for kilm for new artists collective; Michael Stafford €375 for art materials; Steven Larkin ,€900 for a short film; Damien McKenna Orwells ‘84, €450 to shoot a documentar­y giving insight into a live gig; Frank Kelly, €600, for the filming of ‘Monologues’; Peter Laverty, Pork Pie Band, €450 for the production of CDs and vinyl of already recorded material; Jebun Nahar, €200 for art materials.

In addition, €3,000 was awarded to the Feile na Tana to support twenty traditiona­l musicians/dancers for the 2021 traditiona­l music festival, workshops and concerts;€1,500 to The Barbican/Grow music for the purchase of instrument­s and to devise music classes for children at risk, with a focus on mental well being; Carlingfor­d Lough Heritage Centre, €2,300 for the Sundays in Spring concert series; Mark Corcoran, Culture Club, €500 for artistic group meetings with guest speakers/artists held six times a year; Darren and Colin Thornton, €900 for documentar­y film ‘Short Cuts’; Droichead Youth Theatre, €400 for 30th anniversar­y film project.
