Local artists in Scoop

-

A number of local artists are taking place in the annual SCOOP art auction, which allows the foundation to support a wide range of projects, from school buildings, to remote education programmes (music and IT programmes) for young displaced kids in the Middle East and for young people living in Direct Provision Centres here in Ireland.

Last year’s auction went fully online and was a roaring success raising over €87,000.

This year’s Art Auction, featuring over 350 artworks from Ireland’s top artists, takes place over four days in April, live from The Copper House Gallery, Dublin.

Among the local artists taking place are Omin, who has three pieces in his distinctive street art influenced style, ‘Movement Continue’, ‘Biggie’ and ‘Mind Reader’, Sean McGuill with multi-media pieces, ‘Lo-Fi Gold’, ‘ Triplicate’ and ‘Catfish’, Dee Walsh with the print ‘ This must be the day’, Niamh O’Connor with ‘With Plenty’, Rosin Duffy with ‘Song Bird’ and ‘ The Journey’, and Adrienne Finnerty with a characteristic colourful abstract ‘Good Vibrations’.

There’s also works from some of the artists who have taken part in Dundalk’s SEEK festivals, including Aches, Signs of Power and Claire Prouvost.

The auction takes place online over four days from April 23 to April 26. To be able to bid, people must register with www.invaluable.com and it is advised to download to app. Bidding will take place in real time while people can also leave an absentee bid, similar to eBay.

The auction organisers state: ‘Furthermore, as COVID-19 reeks havoc on all walks of life – including artists and the arts (which have been crucial to our own development and mission) – we are dividing the final hammer price 50/50 with the artists. We hope this will not only support artists during these difficult times and raise the funds we need to continue our work, but we are hoping it will lead to a slightly more different, and more exciting, selection of artworks being included.’
