Easter camps with a difference

-

DUE the current circumstances the country currently finds itself in the Easter coaching camps needed some out-of-the-box thinking from the Louth Coaching and Games staf.

IT simply wasn’t possible to host camps as they would’ve been conducted in previous years.

SO the thinking caps went on and as with so much of our coaching this year the activities went online with GDAs’ taking on the task of catering for their own regions.

The camps catered for players from the Nursery age group right through to U16s with a number of different activities planned.

These varied from GDA Mairead Monahan introducing Yoga, Zumba and Pilates to GAA themed HIIT sessions taking place.

There were also skill sessions taking place in each of the regions in the county.

Craig Lynch aided by his fellow county players Aimee McNally, Patrick Reilly and Declan Byrne put the players in his region through their paces, while Dundalk GDA Brian Óg Corr, North Louth GDA Anthony Courtneyand GDA Sean Hand put on sessions for the clubs from Drogheda and South Louth with a series of Fundamental Movement sessions, Skill sessions and HIIT sessions incorporating game specific movements.

The two days of activities proved to be a big success and was warmly welcomed by clubs, players and parents.

In all over 400 players took part throughout the county with some fantastic feedback from participants and club coaches.

Proving that although circumstances may not be ideal at present the coaching and development of our players can continue, however hopefully it will not be too long before we get back out onto the pitch again.
