Cuchulainn Gaels congratulate their U8’s boys & girls who played their first outdoor blitz of the season.

They played three games against Na Piarsaigh/Blackrock, Roche Emmets and Cooley Kickhams. Thanks to Na Piarsaigh/Blackrock, Roche Emmets and Cooley Kickhams GFC for travelling to Omeath. The club would also like to thank Dundalk Engineering for sponsoring our U7s and U8s jerseys again this year.

There was a good turnout for the Glen United Table Quiz which the club organised to raise funds for Motor Neuron.

The club would like to thank Jodie Keenan and all his staff at Martins for their help and courtesy, Martin Keenan for setting the quiz questions, Tommy McCann for checking the answers, all who donated spot prizes and all who turned up on the night.

NORTH LOUTH WINTER LEAGUE

The results from the matches played in the North Louth Winter League on Sunday last are as follows. Faughart beat Glen 2-0 while Ramparts and Haynestown played a 3-3 draw.

Carlingford and Greenfield have yet to play each other in the league and by coincidence they are in the top two positions. This much awaited clash takes place this coming weekend and the outcome will decide the league winners. Better placed are the Greenfield side who only need a draw while Carlingford need a win. It should be some clash!

In the first round of the Fintan Goss Cup Glen play Faughart which is also fixed for this weekend.

UNLUCKY START FOR CUCHULAINN GAELS

On a blustery night in Omeath, the first round of the division 3B league took place. The Malachi’s started at a blistering pace and went a few points up before Cuchulainn Gaels got going. A superb goal by James Sharkey kept the score close at half time. Cuchulainn Gaels 1-2 Naomh Malachi 0-7.

The second half was a close fought contest with some questionable decisions going against the home side while they led by a point. A draw game with the time showing 33minutes played and a foul given against the home side meant the Malachi’s moved the ball down the field quickly and following a fine save from Shea Quigley, the rebound was slotted in and the visiting side went away the victors. The final score was Naomh Malachi 1-12 Cuchulainn Gaels 2-6.

Cúchulainn Gaels starting team; Seamus Quigley, Rowan Mulligan, Sean Brennan, Euan McArdle, Larry Brennan, Martin Hynes, Phillip McGovern, David McQuaid, Rammie Phillips, Callum Fearon, Michéal McCabe, Stephen Mullen, James Sharkey, Sean McManus, James Keenan. Subs - Peter Morgan for Callum Fearon. Scorers - James Sharkey 1-5, Michèal McCabe 1-1.

YOUNG GAELS SUPPORT GOOD CAUSE

A massive well done to the young players of Cuchulainn Gaels who ran a very successful coffee morning at the weekend. This was a great way for our young people to connect with people in the community while raising vital funds for the Irish Motor Neurone Disease Association.

Cuchulainn Gaels commitee member Caitlin McArdle kindly allowed our young players to use her home to serve tea and buns to everyone who came along to support such a good cause. They have managed to raise a whopping €1050 so far! That’s over 100% more than their target
