STORM Kathleen caused havoc the weekend before last, but fortunatel­y golfers still got out to play in challengin­g conditions.

The overall winner that weekend was our President, Eamon Trainor, who shot a brilliant 28 points on the Sunday afternoon. Eamon finished strongly with a great birdie two on the 12th hole.

Division 1 was won by Luke McGeown with a score of 26 points. Luke has shown some good form recently and the highlight of his round was the birdie on the 3rd. Finishing in second place was Derek Yorke on a score of 24 points.

Pauric Duffy won Division 2 with a score of 25 points. It was a very consistent round played by Pauric, holding off the challenge of Lenny McKitteric­k who finished one point back on 24. Division 3 was won by Finbar Boylan who shot a score of 23 points. Finbar won on the countback, holding off the challenge of Michael McCartan.

Liam Thornton won Division 4 with a score of 25 points. Liam played in the toughest of the conditions on the Saturday morning and polished off his round with a brilliant birdie two on the 10th hole. Jim Hanratty finished runner-up with a score of 24.

The 2024 Annual Junior Golf Academy runs from Tuesday June 25 to Thursday 27th inclusive, from 9:30am to 1:30pm each day. It’s for children aged from eight to 15 years and costs €60 per child.
