Bride’s strike late for draw
Hosts recover from falling behind
ST BRIDE’S struck two points in second half injury-time to earn a derby draw with Kilkerley Emmets in Knockbridge on Monday night.
A first outing in Division 2 for both sides, Emmets were in front by 1-6 to 1-3 at half-time with a converted penalty by Tadhg McEnaney in the closing stages nudging Ronan Greene’s team ahead.
Bride’s had led with midfielder Neil Thornton finding the back of the net for the hosts, who also had full-forward Josh O’Hare on the scoresheet.
SPREAD OF SCORERS
Darragh Conlon, Fionn Cumiskey, Ewan McEnteggart, Kieran Murtagh, Darren Geoghegan and Micheál Begley chipped in with points for Kilkerley during the opening period, while McEnaney’s major meant all six starting forwards contributed scores for the visitors.
It looked as though Kilkerley would hold on and get their promotion bid underway but Bride’s finished with a flurry and had Marry been slightly more accurate with another free attempt, Mark McCann’s side could have prevailed.
