GLENROE TIDY TOWNS

Ballyhoura Tidy Towns Awards recognised 6 of the 39 communities for their endeavours. Glenroe Tidy Towns is honoured to get an award for landscaping and biodiversity. It’s a great recognition for the work of all involved and an endorsement for TJ Leahy of De Dannan Gardens.

Limerick city and County Council roads engineer, Diarmuid Sheehy and his colleague, James O’Rourke, met community members at Smith’s Cross and Glenroe Cross. The generosity of Bridie Kelly and Lees create the potential for the improvement of road safety. Firstly, it was agreed to have LCCC be requested to install speed limits in Glenroe - a review is due later in the year, redesign the footpath and prepare new designs for Smith’s Cross to respond to the points made by hauliers and to lower the earth banks, also to widen the road to Spittle by realigning the first 50 metres on the right and rebuilding a drystone wall with the co-operation of Ballyhoura Development and RSS.
