CLUB FUN DAY

- CLUB SPONSOR Kenmona Ltd.

A Ballycastle Gaels Club Fun Day will take place on Sunday, September 25th, in Ballyhooly Community Field from 2pm to 5pm. There will be a host of fun activities on the day for all the family.

These include face painting, teddy bears’ picnic, fun and games on the tennis court, three legged race, hanging tough, potato and spoon races, wall squats, sheaf throwing, wellie throwing, penalty shoot-out and much, much more. Tea, coffee and treats will be available on the day. A selection of Ballycastle Gaels gear will be on sale at the club stand. There will also be some raffle prizes.

The organising committee have put a lot of effort in to the event, so it would be great to see a good turn-out on the day. Hopefully, the weather holds up and we have a very enjoyable day. Thanks to everybody who is helping in any way with organising the event.

U17 BOYS

The U17 boys have qualified for the Shield final of the hurling championship against Newmarket. This will be the final game of the season and hopefully the lads can go out on a high.

At present, the timing of this game is unsure, but please keep an eye on the club social media page for update.

U15 BOYS

The U15 boys continued their remarkable season on Wednesday last, September 14th, when they faced St Dominic’s in the final round robin fixture of the hurling championship in Glanworth. In a cracking game of hurling, Ballycastle edged away to seal a deserved 5-13 to 3-10 win in the closing stages, in the process securing their 100% record in this competition.

The semi-final took place on Sunday last, September 18th, in sun drenched Ballyhooly, with Buttevant providing the opposition. The first half saw the teams trade goals and points throughout, with a late goal from Buttevant seeing them lead 3-05 to 2-06 at half-time.

Ballycastle emerged for the second half in determined fashion and blitzed the visitors with 1-05 in the opening ten minutes of the half. This paved the way for a deserved victory on a scoreline of 4-19 to 3-08. The lads played some great stuff on the day, and a feature of the game was their work rate, particularly in that second half, with the whole panel contributing.

They are now qualified for the final, which is due to be played against St Dominics on Sunday next, September 25th, with an 11am throw-in. As of now, no venue has been confirmed, so please keep an eye on the club social media page for updates.

Before this, the lads will have played their football championship final against Banteer/Lyre on Wednesday night, (September 21st). A full report on this game will appear in next week’s paper.

Best of luck to the players and mentors involved with this panel, and hopefully the locals of Ballyhooly and Castletownroche will turn out in large numbers to give them the support they deserve this week.

U13 BOYS

The U13s played a football challenge on Thursday night last in Ballyhooly, with Lisgoold making the trip to provide stern opposition. A fine game ensued and in the end, the lads came out on top, with all members of the panel contributing to a very good win.
