Competitive U12 final
Sunday morning in Mitchelstown we played the U12 Rebel Óg North/Mid/South Shield final against Carrigaline. Even without our injured centre forward Ethan we were confident we would have the better of them.
It was a combative and competitive game from start to finish. After exchanging a miss each Carrigaline scored two points from play to take an early lead. John and Fionn won hard earned frees but they were outside our range. Micheal had a shot from distance but the goalie caught it on the line. Carrigaline scored a goal from a close in shot. Sean in goals was called into action and made a good stop for Eoin to make one of a number of crucial clearances. Rory scored our first goal after a nice ball in from Micheal. The opposition scored the last score of the half to leave it 1-00 to 1-03 at half-time.
The second half was as tough as the first. Jack and Kevin did some excellent blocking and clearing. Jason was everywhere fighting for every ball. Scott was moved to the forwards and won a lot of ball. Rory scored another goal to level the match. Carrigaline added a goal and a point before Scott scored a nice point from the wing. Carrigaline finished strongly to win 3-06 to 2-01.
