GIRLS U13 PREMIER DIVISION Fermoy 6 College Corinthians 2

The girls made it 2 wins from 2 on Saturday with a great team performance. This was the girls first match on the new astro pitch and they were determined to mark it in style.

Corinthians started well, with lots of possession but never troubled the Fermoy defence which was well marshalled by the flawless Lily O’Callaghan.

Fermoy were 1 up after 10 mins when Aimee Kearney finished well after a great run, cutting in off the left wing. Three minutes later it was 2-0 when the Keeper couldn’t hold Sarah O’Connor’s shot and Amyra Lavery was first to react to slot it home. Kearney turned provider when she cut back for Sarah O’Conner to put Fermoy 3 up. Sarah had a brilliant game up front for Fermoy, with some great hold up play and bringing others into the game. For the 4th it was great closing down of the Corinthians defence by Sarah and her cross allowed Sofie Doyle to fire home from close range. 4-0 at half time.

Corinthians got a goal back early in the 2nd half with a fine strike from the edge of the Fermoy box. Straight away Aideen Wall restored Fermoy’s 4 goal lead with a nice finish following a great Fermoy move. Corinthians kept in the game and it was only some great defending and a great save from Ruby Mae that kept it 5-1. With 10 minutes to go, Corinthians did make it 5-2 when play was amazingly left continue following an off the ball incident. It was Fermoy who upped it again in the closing stages when Aimee Kearney finished off the scoring to make it 6-2 with a great solo goal.

It’s Lakewood up next for the girls, who pipped them to the league title last year so there should be another exciting morning in store. Thanks to all the parents for the fantastic support again for the girls.

BOYS U12 St Marys 1 Fermoy 0

Fermoy U12s made the trip to Kilcully to take on the high flying St Marys. This was a game where we were under the cosh for long stretches of the game. Some resolute defending and some sharp goalkeeping kept Marys at bay. We got to half time scoreless and that was tribute to the work rate the lads put in.

We tried to play on the counter in the second half and were unlucky not to sneak a goal. With the pressure increasing Marys finally broke the deadlock, a sublime through ball split the defence and a cool finish was enough for the hosts to take the 3 points. No fault boys, ye left everything on the pitch and that’s all we can ask.

U15 Fermoy 5 Riverstown 0

Fermoy U15A continued their great start the season with a 5-0 win over Riverstown. An excellent all round performance and keep up the good work on the training ground.
