What parents and students say about CBS

-

CBS Mitchelstown is an outstanding school that I would recommend unequivocally. My two sons did their Leaving Cert there in recent years. CBS Mitchelstown gave them a great education and much, much more. A very positive ethos and inclusive environment over a very crucial 6-year period made ever more challenging by Covid. There was strong engagement and commitment from the teaching staff and open communication with me as a parent. In addition, they both had great friends who I hope will continue to support each other into the future.

The CBS truly is a school for all. I can safely say my six years are ones I will always cherish, full of great memories and friends for life. I couldn’t recommend the school highly enough to any primary students and their parents. The teachers ensure students maximise their potential academically whilst enabling them to be prepared to take on life outside of school. Also, the quality sporting set up we have allows players of all abilities to better their performance on the pitch. The CBS is a school that really welcomes all students and is an excellent environment in which to spend your second level education. -Student,LC2022

I am so grateful for all the help that the teachers and staff at Mitchelstown CBS provided for my son over his 6 years in the school and especially in Senior Cycle. We are very proud of his results and thankful of the support he received.

There is a multitude of extra-curricular opportunities offered to students at CBS Mitchelstown, particularly through an exceptional Transition Year programme. Academically, CBS Mitchelstown equips students with the necessary skills to succeed, with a highly talented, motivated staff who are passionate about their profession and care deeply about their students, from far beyond an academic perspective. Particularly during my Leaving Cert cycle, my teachers were always on hand to offer a reassuring chat and give pertinent advice.

I have nothing but praise for CBS as a school. As a parent I can vouch for the extremely helpful attitude of the staff. I always felt I could contact the school if I needed to. Learning and doing well are first and foremost, but my son loved the sports in the school too. As a parent I was glad to see that he was always expected to catch up if he was at a match but I am also glad of the very positive experiences his involvement in sport gave him. The 6th Year mentoring programme was fantastic for him. The teacher he linked with really helped him to look at his overall progress and he found those meetings hugely valuable. -Parent

Preparation for the lessons observed was very comprehensive. The various elements of the lessons clearly reflected the learning intentions. The sense of accomplishment felt by some students, especially those with additional needs, as a result of the support and feedback they received from each other and from the teacher, was particularly a significant point of strength. -DESInspectorate2023
