Engaging meeting with positive outlook

-

Thanks to everybody for attending our AGM over the weekend. We had a very engaging meeting and it was hugely positive where a large crowd attended. There are many positive elements happening within the club and we want to continue on in that vein for 2024. Best wishes to everybody for the forthcoming GAA season in 2024. Thanks for all your support as always. Ní neart go cur le chéile.

SAVE THE DATE

On Tuesday, December 12th 7.30pm the club will be hosting a coaching workshop in the new community hall. Hosted by our coaching committee this will be facilitated by a special guest on the night. If you are a coach or would like to support by coaching this will be the first of many coaching conversations within the club for 2024.

As set by our strategic five year plan we will dedicate a great degree of 2024 to building frameworks and best practice for our coaches. This will be a supportive framework where your input is required to drive the players and our coaches on. Every person who coaches or has an interest is invited to participate so we can build out what success looks like for the future together. Please save the date and please pass along to anyone who may have an interest in coaching within the club. Thank you.

ASTRO UPDATE

With 10 days left to the Christmas draw we are delighted to advise that we have reached almost 70% of target, which is hugely positive. Thank you for your support. As discussed previously any contribution towards the fund is gratefully welcomed and appreciated no matter how large or small. To donate online visit the club website.

Just a couple of announcements regarding our Astro target from our committee. In response to two specific questions that have been posed, The pitch will be open all the time as was the case with the juvenile pitch. It will be subject to rules in footwear etc as would be the case with this particular pitch make up. Secondly any contribution towards the fund is gratefully welcomed and appreciated, no matter how large or small. Again thank you kindly for your generosity. Ni neart go cur le chéile! Thank you as always for your support.

100 CLUB DRAW

The 100 Club draw was deferred last week. If you can give any outstanding monies for this draw to Barry O'Connor we will advise on a new date and hold the draw then. Thanks for your support as always.

IRELAND LIGHTS UP

The club are looking for some volunteers to help get this event going, nothing much to it. It will be fun, meeting of friends, club members and will suit all ages. The ever popular ‘Ireland Lights Up’ returns to GAA clubs in January 2024 in partnership with RTE’s Operation Transformation and Get Ireland Walking.

Ireland Lights Up encourages GAA clubs across the 32 counties to light up and bring communities together to walk and talk in a safe environment during the dark winter evenings. As ever, a club participating in Ireland Lights Up will be showcased each week on RTE’s Operation Transformation. By registering for Ireland Lights Up you are automatically registered for the Steps Challenge, and you will receive an invite to the My Life app from Irish Life. (Although you don't have to participate in the latter - that is at your discretion).

Ireland Lights Up will run from January 10, 2024. Participating clubs are asked to host a community walk for up to 6 weeks, for the duration of the Operation Transformation show. Clubs can determine their own schedule depending on volunteer capacity. Each week one participating club will be selected to receive a visit from the RTE cameras with the footage broadcast on the subsequent episode of Operation Transformation. Someone in the community may have an inspirational story about how Ireland Lights Up or walking in general has helped transform their health. To put an accurate figure on the number of walkers that participate in Ireland Lights Up in 2024, clubs are asked to report their participant numbers weekly.

Clubs will be considered as host club for the launch of Ireland Lights Up 2024 (which involves a visit from RTE’s Operation Transformation cameras to capture footage for the 2025 show). If you are interested and would like to help get this up and running for the club, please contact Will Fouhy 086-3663113, Shane O'Grady 089-4442171 or Maria Noonan 087-6657153. This is a great opportunity for club members to get together in the New Year. Gather your friends, grab a high viz and have fun. We might be on TV!

BOBBLE HATS

Eugene Sweeney has a fresh new batch of Kildorrery GAA bobble hats in for anyone interested in purchasing. If interested, please contact Eugene by phone or on his Instagram page. €2 from every hat sold goes back to the club.

SUPPORT
