Munster semi-final this Sunday
On this coming Sunday, December 10th our Grade 4 men’s team will contest the semi-final of the Munster Winter League Phase 1 up against Rushbrooke. Last weekend the team travelled to Nenagh, dramatically earning their crust to reach the semi-final by winning a nail-biting super doubles set.
The team hope to have home advantage as we are in the final stages of preparing our club for re-opening following extensive club enhancement. There is no doubt Rushbrooke will put up a strong fight. Our men have been playing excellent tennis and have the experience to get the win. It promises to be a great day of tennis. We wish our team the best of luck Sunday.

NORTH CORK LEAGUE
The North Cork League continued this week. Our Division 2 team played v Dromahane on Tuesday last. Unfortunately they lost 6-2, bringing their North Cork League campaign to an end. Well done to the team, they had a mighty run in the league.

ENJOY TENNIS PROGRAMME
This continues Friday 6pm-7pm in Mitchelstown Leisure Centre.
WORKS CONTINUE AT MITCHELSTOWN LAWN TENNIS CLUB
Exciting time as we are now within days of completing our development and enhancement of the club. We have been challenged with issues of weather and materials delivery. The schedule has exceeded the plan, which is regrettable. Completion is not too far away. Once completed the club will benefit from universally/physically disabled access to courts, modern fencing surrounding the entire perimeter and the latest in LED lighting. We appreciate and thank our members for their continued patience and support while we improve our facilities.
JUNIOR NEWS
Munster Tennis is happy to make a further announcement in relation to Junior Tennis development in the province. Proposed Munster Tennis Regional Junior Leagues – a significant new competition coming soon, the proposed Munster Tennis Regional Junior Leagues will cover all parts of the province.
This will include some events tailored towards a “Tennis for Life” stream and others more towards a “Competitive” stream. The full details of this competition will be announced very shortly with online entry etc to follow soon after. The overall idea is one of inclusion and it is intended as an additional event and is not designed to replace any existing events in the province.
In years to come we hope to have junior leagues in the province as large, as successful and as strong as the Munster Tennis Senior Adult Leagues. To achieve this and grow our sport it will take cooperation between Munster Tennis, affiliated clubs, registered coaches and parents from all 3 regions in the province. Together we are stronger. Exciting times for all juniors, we look forward to welcoming our juniors back to the club, new members always welcome.
