2024 CHAMPIONSHIP DRAWS
Last Thursday evening, December 14th the 2024 Cork Co-Op Superstores County Hurling and McCarthy Insurance Group Football Championship draws took place at Páirc Uí Chaoimh. This event was also live streamed on the Rebels Online platform. In the Premier Intermediate Hurling Championship (PIHC) grade Kilworth were allocated the top seed A following last season’s fantastic run of form in reaching the County final. The championship structure which will follow the same as last season is comprised of 3 groups with 4 teams in each. Kilworth were drawn from the pot in group 3 and will play Ballymartle, Ballinhassig, and Dungourney in what will be 3 eagerly awaited, highly challenging and competitive clashes. Confirmed dates and venues for the Sean Long Cup will follow in the coming days.
Kilworth will participate in Division 4 of the Red FM County Senior Hurling League in 2024. This division consists of 10 teams (Kilworth, Bandon, Lisgoold, Ballyhea, St Catherines, Youghal, Kildorrery, Milford, Russell Rovers and Cloughduv) and again confirmed dates and venues will follow in the coming days.
The club would like to congratulate Eoin Carey, who formed part of Pat Ryan’s Cork Senior Hurling matchday panel that played Galway in last week’s Teddy McCarthy tribute game at Páirc Uí Chaoimh. Eoin made his appearance in the red and white colours of the Rebels at halftime in what was a highspeed game played in front of a large contingent of supporters. Eoin has had a fantastic season with both his club Kilworth and divisional side Avondhu, scoring 0-15 from play in the Premier Intermediate Hurling Championship (PIHC) with Kilworth and 0-26 from play in the Premier Senior Hurling Championship (PSHC) with Avondhu, (making him the overall top scorer in this competition), so it was extremely fitting to see Eoin rewarded with this opportunity to represent his county at senior ranks.
Also, huge congratulations to clubman, Sean Keane and his partner Caitlin on the birth of their baby boy Jack recently.
REBELS’ BOUNTY DRAW
Congratulations to Sean Keane who was yet another Kilworth lucky winner this year in last Thursday evening’s Rebels’ Bounty December draw. Sean’s ticket was drawn out in 5th place, and he pockets himself a tasty €1,000 just in time for Christmas. Kilworth GAA have been extremely fortunate in this year’s Rebels’ Bounty draws with 5 winners in total. Paudie Lynch claimed top prize of €20,000 in October’s draw, both Damien McNamara (€1,000) and John Joe Crowley (€250) collected in the July draw and Denis Heskin netted €250 in April’s draw. Sincere thanks to everyone who has supported Kilworth GAA with the Rebels’ Bounty initiative during 2023.
