Busy schedule at town’s youth centre

Fermoy Community Youth Centre is a hive of activity this January, taking a running start at 2024 welcoming the Fermoy Pantomime, ‘Woodie at the O.K. Corral’ followed by the Fit-Up Theatre Festival, which will run shows on January 18, February 4, 11 and 18.

The Fógues will be performing at the busy quay-side centre in the town on February 9, while the Loreto, Fermoy Show will be staged on March 6, 7, 8 and 9.

On March 15, Marvellous Mascots will be in The Palace Theatre, while the following week, on March 22, local musician, producer and director, Girish Patel, will be staging his show at the local venue.

Best of Country takes to the stage on March 28, while ‘Bruised Orange’ - a John Prine Tribute Band - will play to the crowds on April 27.

Popular duo, Pat and Faye Shortt, will be staging ‘Knuckle Down’ in The Palace Theatre on May 10, while on June 13 and 14 Rebecca O’Connor will take to the stage as Tina Turner.

Each week, Fermoy Community Youth Centre hosts a range of clubs, groups and activities to choose from also, with Mondays seeing pilates, dance, art classes, juvenile racquetbal­l and a men’s club get underway.

Tuesday’s schedule sees performanc­e arts and drama, active retirement kurling, freestyle and slow dance, pranic healing and Toastmaste­rs take place. Fitness classes, active retirement group meetings, yoga, dance, ladies' racquetbal­l and choir gets underway on Wednesdays.

Thursday at Fermoy Community Youth Centre brings Networking events, yoga, dance for children, gymnastics, and freestyle and slow dance, while Fridays see a baby sensory class, more dance, acrobatics and gymnastics and a men’s club fitness.

Saturdays and Sundays are a busy time for the local centre, with racquetbal­l, squash and handball at the sports complex, a host of different dance classes for all ages, cinema parties and birthday parties underway.
