PAT IN THE POST OFFICE

It was with great sadness the news of the death of Pat O’Neill filtered through to Killavullen earlier this week. A precise, gentle, caring enthusiastic, friendly lady whose role in our community enabled many local families and friends to keep in touch over the years prior to the modern mode of instant messaging, emails and social media. Our condolences to her family and friends at this sad time. It is hoped you find consolation in the fond memories so many have of Pat and in the words of her adored Daniel O’Donnell: I have gone from sight but I am wait in’ Wait in’ just beyond the rainbow’ s end I’ m happy in this place that I have come to Because I’ m here with my forever friend Now all your thoughts of me let them bejoyful Of things we’ ve done and happy times we’veshared So don’ t be sad dear ones because I’ ve leftyou Please laugh and talk of me as if I’ m there Just lookup in the sky I am the sunshine I’mthemisttha trisesonasummer s morn

MONSTER TABLE QUIZ

Ballygown NS annual monster table quiz will take place this coming Friday, January 19th in Mallow GAA complex. This had become one of the biggest quizzes of its kind in the county, possibly the country and they are looking forward to another fun event. In recent years the quiz has tested the knowledge of 100 teams. The quiz kicks off at 7pm with a perpetual shield for the best overall team. Teams are divided into 2 sections: 3rd and 4th Class teams and 5th and 6th Class teams. There are trophies for 1st and 2nd in each section. A team of 4 is €24 and there will also be a raffle on the night. The quiz will be open to primary school children from any location so share the word among family far and near. Best of luck to those taking part and well done to the organisers. It’s a mammoth task!

Killavullen Community Café will reopen for a new year cuppa and catch up on January 30th between 10.30am and 12.30pm. The café is open to all and even if you think attending alone would be daunting, it will not be. There is a chair for everyone! It is a great, friendly environment and a lovely way to meet others in a local, warm central location. Why not make it a new year resolution to pop in to some café mornings and see for yourself, or better still bring a friend – you’d never know who you’d meet!

CHIROPODY

The next clinic will be in Killavullen Community Centre on Saturday, February 3rd and on a monthly basis thereafter. Appointments can be made with Patricia on 086-3225052.

Congratulations to you all and thank you for supporting Killavullen Community Council.
